Buyer Critiques

The iHome stereo program is pretty excellent. It looks pretty and has some "wow" element. I like it.
Lets go more than the major functions:
Charging: Charges very good. Help for all the many i devices is offered by sticking diverse plastic plates in the dock. Its honestly significant to use this white tiny plates since they keep you from placing too much strain on the 15 pin connector. Disappointingly, they did not contain a white plate that is compatible with the iPhone 2G. Perhaps they are not aware that a lot of adults pass down their old 2G iPhones to their youngsters for use as iPod Touch... I have carried out that and I know a number of other many people who have carried out it as effectively. Nevertheless, this is not a significant deal, its not advertised as like this plate, but rest assured that if your child is employing an iPhone 2G as an iPod touch then they will not be in a position to use the charging feature of this device.
Speakers: The speakers performed properly for what they are. In truth, I was modestly impressed. It has a port so you can plug in an external mp3 player and get the flashing lights and speakers, so if you have an iPhone 2g, effectively, thats how you would use it. They make a large deal about the Passive Subwoofer. I did some research on the online to get out just what a "passive" subwoofer is. The iHome manufacturer webpage had nothing at all to say about this, in truth, the "tech specs" page only had the product dimensions (weak). The manual also had no specs (weak). The amazon "technical details" has no specs (weak). So definitely, we don't know what this passive subwoofer is, or the specs of this subwoofer. Perhaps its just an "concept" and all you are honestly getting is a "subwoofery expertise" (boo!).
The lights: The lights are nice. I like the fade mode exactly where it cycles through the colors. They blink appropriately when you have a really strong back beat on a song and not much else. It performs perfectly. But as soon as anything that is not a extremely clear beat or melody enters the music the iHome has one thing closer to an apoplectic fit. It begins blinking and stuttering and flashing with no real relation to the music. I'm positive its tiny firmware is attempting to do some thing marvelous, but its not as cool as a disco ball. The lights do function with out music, it can sit there and color shift all day without your i device plugged in. The lights were a small jerky to adjust, there are five settings, and from time to time its difficult to know which setting you are on, or how extended to hold the button. But my kids do not thoughts this. They like to fiddle with it. An adult will dislike the vagueness of the controls.
The box tells you to check out the iPhone app... That the item is "app enhanced". which seems to imply that the iPhone app will somehow assist you get more out of your little disco light show. Nicely, not genuinely. They do have a no cost iPhone alarm clock app, I downloaded it and tried it and the two are mutually exclusive products. It is correct that its good to have the alarm clock app but I could not see how the iHome app worked with the iP15 in any way. I think you need to download the absolutely free app if you get this device, just don't count on the app+iP15 to do a great deal more than they do separately. The app is a great touch, perhaps I am missing one thing...
One particular minor detail... I believe that the iP15 is kinda ugly when its not glowing some color. Its a dingy blue-grey when turned off. It does not look as white as the Amazon picture shown on this page.
General I would say this would be a great gift for a girl. My daughters had been especially excited when it arrived. I doubt it would disappoint a teen.
Its truly tricky to say whether to give it 3 stars (its ok) or four stars (i like it). I'm going to settle in on four stars, as the kids who are the target market place felt it was excellent. And isn't it their opinion that matters the most?

We checked this out at a discount store as we've been looking for a reasonably priced docking station for our 14 year old daughter for Xmas. Was particularly surprised by the decent sound quality. Significantly greater than some of the other greater priced ones sitting subsequent to it. We enjoy bass and it performed better than expected. Color altering is fairly cool and I like the unique settings. She's going to enjoy it. Identified it for $49.99 so look around!

Client Evaluations

Just got this today and played around with it for a whilst. I was thinking of acquiring the iP9 final week, but am so glad I didn't since this a single has been listed on Amazon considering the fact that then at nearly the identical value.
I've tested the alarms, which function as they will need to. When the unit itself has the 2 alarms similar to the older version of this (iP9), the app, which is absolutely free to download via the app store, can have quite a few alot more alarms. The attributes I truly delight in on the app are getting able to select "bedtime" music, and choose certain songs to play to fall asleep to or wake up to, and you can even set the volume on your person alarms. The app also has factors like the climate displayed on the alarm screen, which is normally nice to know when you wake up. What I also genuinely get pleasure from about this when compared to the typical iPhone alarm is becoming able to set the time for the snooze. The unit comes with the docks to support multiple devices, but I like that I can also plug my iPhone in devoid of there being a dock given that I have a pretty thick case on my iPhone. A further good function is that by the press of a button on the device, you can sync the time on the clock to match your iPhone time. The one particular con I have identified in the few hours I've had this is that the time does not stay synced, but is not off by far more than a minute (this is stated in the user manual as nicely).
Overall, the reality that I can set the alarms and much more from an app tends to make this alarm clock definitely worth it. The sound quality is also really terrific and doubles nicely as speakers in the bedroom.
The app is referred to as iHome+Sleep (Free), and there is also one other one particular that you can use to wake up to net radio stations (iHome+Radio) which expenses $2.99, though I haven't tried that one out yet.
UPDATE 11/29/11:
I've had this for a couple of months. I am not as impressed with the App as I was at the beginning. I've located bugs in it and it really is failed me a few instances (fortunately I was never late). The alarms on the unit itself perform pretty effectively. Maybe I just haven't figured it out perfectly, but the app alarms have not honestly worked smoothly for me. Relating to other points...I really like the nap feature that is both on the app and the unit. Also to note, the alarm DOES go off when the telephone is on silent.
I decreased the stars I gave it from five to 4 simply because of the app, but I nevertheless advocate this iHome, particularly considering that the former version that has fewer functions is alot more high-priced now as it's getting phased out.

This factor was easy to set up, looks incredibly slick, is really compact but it has a Tremendous sound. Who would have thought a clock radio with bass and treble manage! Nicely, I guess IHome did... Like the dimmable LCD and backlighting on the buttons. I've been laying a handkerchief over my prior clock radio for the reason that it was as well bright subsequent to the bed. 1 word of warning.... The "App-Enhanced" is a thing that is NOT built into the radio, it just implies that it will play apps from the IPod/Telephone when it's plugged in. I have an IPod Classic which is not connected to the net so I will not be able to listen to online radio as I expected. I compared this unit to the Logitech Squeezebox and in all probability would have spent the added dough to access Spotify and other streaming music sources. Oh nicely, I'll maintain it since it sounds so good.

Client Critiques

I was seeking for an alarm clock/charger for my iPhone and ultimately settled on this 1. Partly intrigued by the truth it functions in conjunction with an app, I wanted to see how the complete package would operate.
It really is a little bigger in individual than I expected it to be so I may have preferred a smaller device, but that's not a deal breaker. The only other complaint I have is that when the device is working with the app, there's a substantial button on the top that turns on and emits a rather vibrant night light that I wish I had the solution to turn off. It really is not so bright as to keep me awake, but I take place to like a dark room when I sleep, so it is even more light than I am utilised to. Nevertheless, not a deal breaker and I am thinking about just putting a sticker on top of it or anything to dim it down.
The speaker gives out fantastic sound excellent, and you can manually control the clock's brightness even to where you can turn the display of fully if you favor. The app is a great touch and has some cool attributes like customizing the music/sounds you sleep and wake-up to, plus about as a large number of alarm selections as you want to set.
The buttons on the front are quick to manage and most of the clock's overall management (setting of the time, and so on.) is done through the iPhone app, but there are buttons on the back that allow you to manage the clock that way as well.
One particular issue I was worried about was regardless of whether it would function with my iPhone's case on considering that I've read about other devices that do not fit the phone if you have a case on it. Thankfully this a single fits just fine (I have an ifrogz case).
All in all, I am happy with it.

I purchased this as a mothers day gift from the children for my wife. She had a twenty year old Sony alarm clock that still worked. Great factor, as after two days the the iHome would no longer charge the iPhone and it would give a message saying that the iHome was an incompatible device. I attempted all the troubleshooting methods and no luck. I know it was not the phone as we attempted two other individuals and we are pretty sure it is a bad connection in the dock connector. I have sent it back for an exchange as the marketplace seller charges a restock fee otherwise but I have a feeling that this clock will not last 20 day let alone twenty years.
The speaker was okay, great sufficient for it is purpose but do not anticipate it to sound like a Bose radio. We had no alarm complications for the two days it worked.

Consumer Critiques

This clock radio is a pretty impressive small music machine! It sounds amazing for it's size, and lets you remote control your iPod or iPhone from bed or across the area. It has a couple of other unique features that come in very handy:
1) This particular model is "GSM shielded", which signifies that it in fact works effectively with an iPhone. If you attempt to use an iPhone on an older (or low cost) iPod clock radio, you are going to end up hearing a bunch of static and buzzing noises if you attempt to play songs on the iPhone or listen to the radio when the phone is plugged in. You can get around this by putting the telephone in airplane mode, but then you happen to be going to miss calls and e-mails even though you're listening to phone on your clock radio. Not cool.
2) FM Radio reception on this model is quite great, and it sounds terrific! AM reception is not so hot, but I doubt that countless people who decide to buy a high-tech clock radio like this genuinely listen to a lot AM radio anymore.
three) This model has dual alarms, which did not seem like a major deal to me at the time when I bought it. Then I realized that this issue also has a calendar built into it, and that I can plan 1 alarm to go off for the duration of the week and a separate alarm to go off only on weekends. Sweet! No a lot more having to shut off the everyday alarm on Friday morning and getting to recall to turn it back on Sunday night!
Some other thoughts... I have each an iPhone 3G and an old iPod Photo, and they both perform fine in this clock radio. Even the menu navigation on the old iPod works fine from the remote. That said, you will will need to ditch the annoying small dock inserts that come with the clock radio to make the older "fat" iPod's fit. You are going to also need to have to shed the insert if you have a case on your iPhone.. it will not fit otherwise.
Other than that annoying small flaw, it really is a superb product.

I purchased this iHome unit about a month ago and have been entirely satisfied with it. The sound good quality is far more than satisfactory for a clock radio, even though absolutely not high fidelity. The controls are effortless to understand and the instruction book is clear. It was substantially simpler to set up and adjust this clock radio than my previous Sony. There are various issues I do NOT like, on the other hand. 1st, the wheels on the leading of the unit (applied to adjust time, and so on) are incredibly stylish, but challenging to use. I discovered that dampening the tip of my finger helped a lot, but this appears a bit unsanitary. Also, when setting up the clock, it is supposed to locate the time zone on its own, but it could not. I had to pick the time manually. (Not a significant deal.) Lastly, in order to wake to a playlist, you have to generate a playlist known as "iHome" and place your songs into it. This appears odd. Why cannot I just pick any playlist on my iPod and use that? Strange... And when you wake to a playlist and press "Snooze," the playlist does not "pause" as it does on most alarms it "mutes." This signifies if you wake to your favorite song and press "Snooze," when the alarm comes on once again it will be playing a fully different song. Having the Snooze button "pause" instead of "mute" would be much much better. I worked around this predicament by placing 20 duplicates of my wake-up song into the iHome playlist, but as soon as again... this is incredibly awkward and strange.
Overall, would I buy this unit again, even if I knew of all these quibbles? The answer is yes.
